Hanon Exercise No. 22
About this arrangement
Hanon notes that it has the same purpose as No. 21 and marks the fingers to train as 3-4-5.
The first beat rocks between two notes a third apart. Keep the wrist still and let the fingers do the work. Use a metronome, lift each finger and play every note clearly, and keep both hands exactly together.
Start with short loops.
Use the section list as a practice map. Start at 50% tempo, loop one section, then return to the full piece once the hand shape feels stable.
Choose Right or Left to focus on one hand. Wait for note checks the highlighted notes as you play them on the screen or a connected MIDI keyboard.
Before you practice.
01 What does Hanon No. 22 train?
It works the third, fourth and fifth fingers. Both hands play the same pattern an octave apart.
02 Should I practise hands separately?
Start with each hand alone for a few minutes, then play both together. Both hands play the same notes an octave apart, so the left hand gets the same work as the right.
03 How long is Hanon No. 22?
Our edition has 29 bars: 14 going up, 14 coming down and a final C. The whole exercise repeats once.
