About this arrangement

Henry Lemoine was a Paris music publisher and piano teacher. His Études enfantines, Op. 37, are 50 short studies dedicated to young pupils, and teachers still assign them today.

The left hand starts on the fifth finger and crosses the third finger over the thumb where the fingering shows 1-3. Practise it alone until the scale is even, then add the right-hand chords, which only change once or twice per bar.

Start with short loops.

Use the section list as a practice map. Start at 50% tempo, loop one section, then return to the full piece once the hand shape feels stable.

Choose Right or Left to focus on one hand. Wait for note checks the highlighted notes as you play them on the screen or a connected MIDI keyboard.

Before you practice.

01 Is Lemoine Op. 37 No. 2 good for beginners?

Yes. It is a gentle first left-hand study in C major.

02 How long is it?

Our edition has 16 bars.

03 Why train the left hand separately?

Most beginner pieces give the left hand slow notes, so it falls behind. A study like this gives it the running part for once.
