The Art of Finger Dexterity, Op. 740 No. 2
About this arrangement
It's the second of the 50 studies in Czerny's The Art of Finger Dexterity, Op. 740. This edition heads it "The passing under of the thumb".
Every bar passes the thumb under on the way up and crosses the hand over it on the way down. Practise one bar at a time, slowly, and keep the arm moving sideways with the hand so the thumb never has to reach.
Start with short loops.
Use the section list as a practice map. Start at 50% tempo, loop one section, then return to the full piece once the hand shape feels stable.
Choose Right or Left to focus on one hand. Wait for note checks the highlighted notes as you play them on the screen or a connected MIDI keyboard.
Before you practice.
