Italian Mariners' Song
About this arrangement
Schumann wrote the 43 pieces of the Album for the Young, Op. 68, in 1848 for his children. No. 36, Lied italienischer Marinari, belongs to the second part of the album, the pieces for older players.
Take the slow opening freely, then set a steady quick tempo for the song. The right hand plays two notes together almost all the time: practise those pairs slowly so both notes sound at once.
Start with short loops.
Use the section list as a practice map. Start at 50% tempo, loop one section, then return to the full piece once the hand shape feels stable.
Choose Right or Left to focus on one hand. Wait for note checks the highlighted notes as you play them on the screen or a connected MIDI keyboard.
